TO:                       Tax Payers of Grant County

FROM:                  Patrick M. Cohn Jr. Grant County Treasurer

 DATE:                   September 14, 2021

SUBJECT:             2021 Property Tax Bill- HB407, Delayed Property Tax Collections

The property tax collection period normally runs from November 10, 2021 through December 10, 2021 and April 10, 2022 through May 10, 2022. New legislation (HB407) allowed school districts to have a mill levy question on the November 2021 local election ballot, thereby delaying mailing and due dates for 1st half of 2021property taxes. The delayed dates for Grant County are:

December 01, 2021 – Mailing of property tax bills

December 10, 2021 – Payment Due Date

January 10, 2022 – Final Due Date without late penalties and interest applied

The second half of property taxes continue as before with April 10th , 2022 due date and May 10th, 2021 as the final due date without late penalties and interest applied.

The resulting delayed billing and collections means:

          1) Pay 1st half property taxes by December 10, 2021 or

         2) Send payment for 1st half of property taxes by the final due date on January 10, 2022

Meetings with state stakeholders such as Taxation and Revenue Department, Property Tax Division have taken place. They are fully aware of the situation.
