NOTICE: SYSTEM CHECK OF THE TABULATORS

In accordance with NMSA 1978 1-14-13.2 the Grant County Clerk’s office will be conducting a post-election system check of the tabulators used in conjunction with the November 8, 2022 General Election beginning Friday, December 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. until completed in the Grant County Clerk’s office, 1400 Highway 180 East, Silver City. The purpose is to have the County Clerk manually recount the votes directly from the paper ballots in precincts 1, 7, 23, 29 and 36 for U.S. Representative District 2 race, precincts 1, 7, 23, 29 and 36 for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, precincts 1, 7, 23, 29 and 36 for Justice of the Supreme Court Position 1.

Important Upcoming Dates

October 5-6, 2022:

10:00am – Certification of Tabulators to be used in the 2022 General Election

October 11, 2022: 

Voter Registration Closes (for paper, online, and third-party registrations)

Absentee Voting Begins

Early Voting Begins in the Grant County Clerk’s Office

County Clerks begin mailing Absentee Ballots

October 22, 2022:  Early Voting Begins at Bayard Community Center

November 2, 2022:  General Election School of Instruction

November 3, 2022:  Last day to request an Absentee Ballot

November 5, 2022:  Early Voting Ends

November 8, 2022:

General Election Day (Polls are open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm)

Absentee ballots are due in the County Clerk’s Office by 7:00 pm

What is the General Election being held on November 8, 2022?

A General Election is held to determine which candidates from all parties, including write-in candidates, will be elected to serve in the office for which they are running. In the General Election, you can vote for any candidate, regardless of your political party or unaffiliated registration. The General Election is held on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November in each even-numbered year.

What is the Regular Local Election being held on November 7, 2023?

The Regular Local Election consolidates School Districts, Municipalities, Soil and Water Conservation Districts and Watershed Districts in Grant County into one election. This election is held every November of the odd-numbered years.
