Administration

The Sheriff, Undersheriff and the Executive Assistant oversee the daily operations,  of the Sheriff’s Office.  All divisions are overseen by the perspective Lieutenants.

Civil Division

Sheriff’s Departments, by state statute, are mandated to serve as the enforcement arm of the courts. The Civil Process Division provides that service for all Grant County’s Magistrate and District Courts. They serve almost 10,000 documents yearly, as well as providing courtroom security and prisoner transports throughout the country.

Process of Service Fee:

  • $42.00 per address
  • If you have an Order for Waiver of Service fees issued by District or Magistrate Court, please enclose it with your paperwork.
  • Make checks payable to: Grant County Sheriff’s Office
  • For a return of service sent back to you, enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Court Security

Courthouse security officers provide a safe and secure  environment  for the public,  personnel and property  of the Grant County Sixth Judicial District Courthouse.

Criminal Investigations

The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for conducting investigations into the more serious crimes reported to the Sheriff’s Department. They are trained in all areas of criminal investigation such as: crime scene processing, photography, interviewing witnesses and suspects, preparing case reports, and court testimony. On call Detective 24 hours a day.

Sex Offender Registry

Sex Offender registrations will be done by appointment only. Please call the office, (575) 574-0100 at least 72 hours in advance to set up an appointment. Walk-ins will not be accepted. Failure to register before due date will result in non-compliance.

Evidence

  • Property and evidence will only be released to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • Arrangements must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
  • To set up an appointment please call (575) 574-0100.
  • All property owners must provide their Judgement & Sentencing and photo ID at time of property pickup.
  • Release of property is subject to release/probation conditions and District Attorney approval.

D.A.R.E.

The D.A.R.E. Program is directed by officers who teach young children the important lessons on how to deal with peer pressure and life decisions. Since 1983, Drug Abuse Resistance Education has taught millions of young people how to recognize and to resist the pressure to be involved in drugs, gangs and violent activities. The D.A.R.E. Programs allows law enforcement personnel to enter our classrooms to answer difficult questions about bullying, drugs, violence and crime. It also teaches students how to avoid temptation, and encourages open communication between young people and local law enforcement officers.

Patrol

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division is overseen by two Lieutenants, four Sergeants, and their Deputies.

The Traffic and patrol Division has handled — Citizens Complaints. Patrol is a key element in providing service to the Grant County Citizens. Our officers patrol 24 hours a day. They conduct preliminary investigations which include protecting the scene of a crime, preservation of evidence, initial interviews, and report writing. Reserves

The Reserve Deputy Program is on a volunteer basis and they receive training in the areas of constitutional law, State Law, County ordinances, firearms, defensive tactics, first aid/CPR, and any other training related to law enforcement. They assist with special function’s such Pro-Rodeo, County Fair and the Civil Division/Court Security.
