Grant County’s Solid Waste Department provides waste-handling and limited recycling services for the county; with stations in Hurley, Mimbres, Gila, and Hachita.

Landfill Fee / Residential

(Per dwelling) $15.75 per quarter
Commercial: Determined by individual type of business.
Note: Unpaid balance will be assessed a $5.00 late fee after due date.

Landfill Locations

Southwest New Mexico Regional Landfill
Location: Three (3) miles south on Ridge Road (318 Ridge Road)

Hours of Operation
Main Landfill: Monday – Friday: 8:00am – 4:00pm Saturday 8:00am – 3:00pm
Convenience Station: Monday-Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm Saturday: 8:00am – 3:30pm

Tri-City Transfer Station

Location: One (1) mile North of Hurley city limits on Highway 180

Hours of Operation
Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am – 4:30pm

Mimbres Transfer Station

Location: 2800 Hwy 35

Hours: Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm

Cliff/Gila Transfer Station

Location: 182 Hwy 211

Hours: Tuesday & Thursday & Saturday 9:00-5:00

Hachita Convenience

Hours: Tuesday & Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm

Recycling Information

Only the following items can be recycled in Grant County:

  • Corrugated Cardboard (boxes flattened)
    • Waxy cardboard is not accepted
    • Pizza Boxes, Cereal Boxes, 12 Pack Soda Boxes, and other similar paperboard materials are not accepted.
  • Aluminum and tin cans

Corrugated Cardboard plus Aluminum and Tin Can Drop Off:

The decorated roll-off containers were painted by kids at various schools around Grant County several years ago. The openings are small to discourage people from putting bags of trash in the bins.
