Biography

Patrick Cohn is a proud member of his community where he was born and raised in Grant County, New Mexico and is an honored graduate of Cobre High School. Patrick then continued his education pursuits locally by attending Western New Mexico University where he earned his Associate Degree in Business Administration and then in 2012 received his Bachelor Degree in General Business with a minor in finance/accounting.

Patrick brings over seventeen years of banking experience with him to the Grant County Treasurer's Office. Early in his career he showed his commitment by becoming one of the youngest bank officers in their history. Patrick has experienced much in his long career in banking from the lending experiences where he worked hard to help the hard working citizens of Grant County, to the operation of the banking system. He knows that this real world experience as well as his education will help him lead the Treasurer's office successfully.

Patrick is personally invested in serving his community where he lives. Within his first term as Treasurer, he was nominated by his fellow treasurer colleagues in the state as Vice President of the Treasurer's Affiliate. He has shown his care and concern for his community by serving as an active member of the Silver School Board where he is currently serving his second term and serves as secretary of the board. He also serves the school board at an extra level, as Patrick was nominated by the Director of the New Mexico School Board Association (NMSBA) as Region 8 secretary. Patrick is also a board member of LULAC Council 8003, Grant County Chamber of Commerce and El Grito Headstart. Patrick recently is a co-founder of the Grant County Task Force for the homeless. Patrick truly believes that the only way to improve your community is to be an active member in the decisions that affect it.

On a personal note, Patrick is a dedicated family man and has been happily married to his wife Desiree for over seventeen years. Patrick and Desiree have four children together. The Cohn's have made Grant County their home and currently reside in Silver City, New Mexico. In his free time Patrick enjoys the simple things such as spending time with his family. He also enjoys the rich treasures that our community provides such as spending time with his family camping, hiking, fishing and the serenity that only the Gila National Forest provides.

In closing Patrick would like to express that Grant County and its residents have always been an intricate part of his life. This is why he is very excited over the opportunity to serve this great community as its County Treasurer. Patrick would like to express that he does have an open door policy for all of the citizens of Grant County and his fellow public officials. He would also like to credit his staff, starting with his Chief Deputy Lorraine Castillo, Senior County Specialists Liz Hernandez, Vangie Gonzales, and finally Jazmine Prejean in Solid Waste. Together as a team they will work hard to provide Grant County with the service it deserves through the Treasurer's Office.
